Seriously! Just Say NOOOO!!!
For all of those thinking that you need a small business loan, or a credit account to make all of those purchases, just stop and ask yourself a simple question.
Drum roll please....
"Can you pay it back?"
Do you have a sure market? Are they knocking your doors down for your product? Do you even have a product yet? Can you get it to market? Can you support the product (just in case they decide to ask for a refund)?
If any of these questions have a pause before your answer of, "Um, we think so," then you probably, no, you definitely need to reassess.
And let us not forget that Credit is a product! Yes, behind the soft piano music, and warm-lit, huggy-baby commercials reaching out their tear crumpled tissue filled hands, sits a suit and tie number crunching executive dreaming up even more elaborate ways to suck you dry. Ironically they probably took out a line of credit and are praying to God that you buy their credit lines so they can pay their bills with your interest.
Credit, in this author's humble opinion is best considered like that annoying family member that you at the last minute and because you have plummeted to the bottom of your list have to call on to help you move. You had better know for sure if the benefit of having them help you will outweigh the cost of whatever suffrage you will probably incur.
And consider...if you have to ask for credit, the humble reality is that you probably have not been creative enough in your fund raising.
